 Lake Sinclair Information

Lake Sinclair was built in 1953 when Georgia Power Company completed the Sinclair Dam. It is located along the fall line of Middle Georgia's Oconee River and has provided electricity for many Georgians. The water in Lake Sinclair is not only used to produce electricity at the Sinclair Dam, but is recirculated to Lake Oconee where it runs through turbines again to produce electricity.

Lake Sinclair has approximately 15,330 acres of water and over 400 miles of shoreline. It is fed by the waters of the Oconee River, Little River, and many large creeks.

Recreation areas on Lake Sinclair include camping areas, public fishing, boat ramps and picnic facilities. Many fishing tournaments are held every year from nationally recognized fishing tournaments to smaller local tournaments. Lake Sinclair is an outdoorsman's paradise that offers something for everyone in the family!

Lake Sinclair is a lake of many coves and inlets as well as long stretches of open water. The houses along the shores range from large permanent homes to weekend retreats.

Eatonton and Milledgeville offer shopping, industry, churches and schools. You may want to visit the Uncle Remus Museum or Rock Eagle 4-H Club Center, both located in Eatonton.

Lake Sinclair, for many years was a well kept secret, until Georgia Power Company built Lake Oconee.
